Ladies Varsity Football round one preview

The Women’s Varsity Football tournament is set to get underway in what promises to be an entertaining event.

The women’s tournament is set up a bit differently to the men’s. Instead of having eight teams battle it out over 12 weeks, the entire group stage will run from today until Saturday with all the action taking place at the Fanie du Toit Sports Grounds in Potchefstroom.

Tshwane University of Technology have enjoyed major success in past Varsity Football campaigns. They successfully retained their title last year and are aiming for a fourth straight Varsity Football trophy. Their opening game is against University of Cape Town. The match will be broadcasted live on SuperSport 4 at 15h45.



The team who got the closest to dethroning TUT last season, University of Western Cape are also looking to make waves in this year’s competition. UWC suffered a narrow defeat to TUT in last year’s semi-final and will hope to have a positive start to their campaign against North West University tonight. SuperSport 10 will be broadcasting this game at 18h00.
