We have to show character – Solinas

Today was not our day,” coach Giovanni Solinas admitted after Tuesday’s 3-1 loss to Bidvest Wits. “We must learn from this game and we need to have a reaction. We have to show character.”
“It was a tough match against a good opponent,” the Kaizer Chiefs coach elaborated. “They came and played counter-attack. They had three chances and scored three times. We created more chances, but only netted once.
“I am disappointed. We were all in a good mood after our great performance against Mamelodi Sundowns, only conceding from a penalty. However, today, the distance between the players was too big, leaving too much space for the Wits players to run into.”
Amakhosi have now collected one point from their first two Absa Premiership fixtures, being in 10th position on the log table.
Solinas also explained that with the games coming thick and fast there is little time to work on tactics. “We want to play offensive football and try to dominate the game. We have to work as well on our defensive and offensive game, as we need to improve on our finishing.
“It takes time to implement our philosophy of football. We need to be patient. We will get there and I feel positive about the future.”
“We win together, we lose together,” the coach concluded. “Today was a big lesson, but we must now focus on our next game.”
Chiefs will host Free State Stars in a MTN8 quarterfinal clash at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 11 August (kick-off is at 18:00).
The tickets for this MTN8 fixture are on sale at TicketPro (Spar, CNA, JET and Edgars) at R60 for adults.
