Are Pearl Thusi and Robert Marawa back on?

The 29-year-old was previously engaged to longtime partner Robert Marawa in 2016 but the engagement was called off in August 2017.

According to The Citizen, before breaking up the couple had a public fight on Twitter where they subtweeted each other, which ended up with Robert blocking Pearl on Twitter. Adding to the turmoil, Pearl’s father Bhekizizwe Thusi opened up to Sunday Sun in January last year about her daughters’ relationship with Robert.

Talking to Sunday Sun, Bhekizizwe said he was not pleased with the Marawas as they had not paid lobola. “The Marawa family treats Pearl as their makoti but they haven’t united the two families in the traditional way and I’m still waiting for the Marawas to come for ilobolo negotiations.” he said at the time.

When speaking to Sowetan about her break up Pearl said, "Yes, it's a private issue, but it was an incredible relationship. I wouldn't trade it. I learnt a lot from it. I think we've all taken the lessons we needed to take from that journey and hopefully we can all move forward from that.”

But even with all the hiccups, it seems the couple might be back on as the ring Pearl is sporting in the new picture bears a shocking resemblance to her old engagement ring from her ex-fiancé.
