Chiefs' Injury Crisis Deepens

The 27-year-old – who is Chiefs’ top scorer this season, only made it through 36 minutes of their 2-1 defeat to Baroka on Saturday and had to be carried to the changing rooms by teammate, Brilliant Khuzwayo.

At this point in time, it remains to be seen how long the Venezuelan faces on the sidelines, but Steve Komphela will be hoping for the best as pressure continues to mount on the Amakhosi head coach.

Chiefs already have the likes of Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Tsepo Masilela, Teenage Hadebe and others facing lengthy spells away from the field, and it would be a blow should Paez, a man with three goals, have to join them.

The Glamour Boys have now won just three of their last 15 games in all competitions, and losing their main striker – a position Komphela is trying to bolster, would come as more bad news for the club.

Paez recently revised his target of 10 goals for the season, telling the club’s official website last week, “I have revised this target… I want to get another five before Christmas and I am now looking at scoring 15 for the season.”

He is expected to find out the extent of his injury this week.
