TUT Women’s Team Is A Hotbed Of Talent In Varsity Football

The men’s side are defending champions and have qualified for next week’s final once again. However, it is the women’s team that are the real powerhouses, with the TUT women aiming for their fourth consecutive Varsity Football title this week in Potchefstroom.

“We have prioritised football at our campus. We have a real professional approach. What that actually means it that we have sourced the best coaches and physicians for both our men’s and women’s teams. We look after our players’ needs, especially their physical fitness.

“We have created a good environment, good structures, and invested in our coaching staff to try and give our players the best opportunity to succeed,” explained TUT Sports Officer Trevor Mogale.



The Varsity Women’s Football competition is crucial for the development and growth of the sport with South Africa not possessing a professional women’s league. The tournament is, therefore, a real showcase of the talent available to the national team and a massive opportunity for women to further their international careers.


“Like, I have said we prioritise football at TUT, so the girls are provided with the best preparation to be top-class footballers. There is nothing really nothing happening from SAFA’s side in regards to women’s football, so this tournament is a real platform.”

TUT will be without four players on national duty with Banyana Banyana currently competing in the Cosafa Cup.
