KHOZA: I’M GLAD HLAUDI MOTSOENENG IS OUT OF THE SABC

Former African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament Makhosi Khoza says she tried to serve with honour and dignity and did what she could to save the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).

Khoza announced on Thursday that she’s quitting the party during a passionate and critical speech at Liliesleaf Farm in Rivonia.

She was due to appear at a disciplinary hearing in October, after publicly calling for President Jacob Zuma to step down ahead of a failed motion of no confidence.

Khoza says that corruption has become institutionalized at the ANC and state-owned enterprises have suffered.



“I played my part in trying to save the SABC and I’m glad and proud that Hlaudi (Motsoeneng) is out of our way today.”

The KwaZulu-Natal branch says it has been vindicated, while the national ANC says they're concerned about the manner in which she has raised issues outside of the party’s structures.

In June, SABC board chairperson Khanyisile Kweyama told Parliament that the board had accepted a finding to dismiss Motsoeneng for misconduct and breaking the terms of his employment contract.

Motsoeneng faced disciplinary action after holding his own news conference.

During the briefing, Motsoeneng, who was still on suspension, criticised the Parliamentary ad-hoc committee’s inquiry into the former board and interim board member Krish Naidoo.

The former SABC chief operating officer left the broadcaster without a cent.
