Anglo American COAL Bursary South Africa 2017 – 2018

ABOUT THE BURSAR

Anglo American is one of the largest mining companies in the world, operating in five continents, mining thermal and metallurgical coal; iron ore and manganese; precious metals and minerals; and base metals and minerals.
COAL is a division of the Anglo American group and is the third largest exporter of metallurgical coal in the world. COAL operates in Australia, Colombia, Canada and South Africa, where they supply the domestic and export energy markets.

ABOUT THE BURSARY

Suitable bursary candidates would be those residing near mining communities, who have ambition, excel academically and want to make a difference. Before the bursary is awarded, applicants will undergo a screening and interview process, as well as psychometric assessments and site visits – this process ensures that the correct candidates are selected that are passion about a career in the mining industry.
This bursary scheme is intended for students that are studying (or intend on studying) within one of the following fields:
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Rock Engineering

The bursary will cover the following expenses: tuition, accommodation, food, cash allowance for prescribed textbooks, fixed allowance and a computer allowance in second year of study.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must meet the following criteria before applying:
  • South African citizen,
  • Achieved a minimum “C” symbol/ level 5 for Matric Mathematics and Physical Science,
  • Currently studying or intending to study at a tertiary institution recognised by the company.
