The consumer's guide to shopping on #BlackFriday

Many South African stores are offering discounts on the 25th of November in light of Black Friday.

The big sale is meant to get rid of stock in preparation for Christmas sales.

The “informal” holiday gets its name from Black Friday which happens in the United States a day after Thanksgiving.

Since then, other countries including SA have followed suite.

Last year stores were crowded and some people waited for five hours before they reached the pay tills as Yusuf Omar reported.

This year that can be avoided if you get abreast to what strategies stores are offering this Friday.

Game

Going against the crowd, Game stores have announced that their black Friday will be black Thursday.

Their Early Bird Deals ahead of Black Friday are only valid on the 24th of November

Pick N Pay

Pick N Pay on the other hand used social media tactically to see what deals they will be offering this black Friday. Users have to share the tweet to watch which products are on special.

Clicks

Clicks is offering a Black Friday online countdown with specials on offer only online from the 21st to the 24th of November.

Checkers

Last year chaos erupted at a packed Port Elizabeth Checkers store as shoppers fought for products during the Black Friday sale.

This year you can sign up for their deals and they will send a list of them to your inbox. 

Samsung

If you are into tech, keep an eye open for Samsung stores and the deals they will be offering.

Shoprite

Shoprite has extended its sales until the 27th of November. 

Mr Price Home

For home décor and appliances Mr Price Home is offering coupons through its website which can be used to get the best deals when you enter the store. 

Total Sports

Consumers can also get sporting deals on sporting gear and clothing. 

Zando

You can also buy clothing items online this Black Friday. Zando is offering up to 80% off items 

Dis-Chem

For all your medical needs, Dis-Chem pharmacies will also be participating in black Friday.
