Johannesburg – A baby boy was abducted during a house robbery in Protea Glen, Extension 28, in Soweto, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.
The 14-month-old baby was taken on Tuesday night, said police spokesperson Captain Mpande Khoza. 
Khoza said officers were called to the scene on Wednesday morning where two suspects had allegedly robbed a house and kidnapped the baby.
"It’s alleged that the mother of the child who was from work at about 20:30 last night. She noticed two strange black males who were around the corner and looked suspicious to her," said Khoza.
"When she tried to call the nanny to quickly open the door, the two suspects managed to grab her and forced her inside the house."
The two suspects demanded money from the woman and the nanny.
After taking the money, the suspects forced the mother into her car and went to Protea Glen shopping mall where she was told to withdraw money from the ATM.
The suspects went back to the mother’s house and took off with her baby, cellphones, clothes and other items from the house.They tied the baby’s mother and her nanny up with a rope. The two managed to free themselves around 05:30, he said.
