Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela praises George Maluleka
Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela is impressed with the form and industry of midfielder George Maluleka.
Maluleka has scored twice and provided as many assists this season for Amakhosi, most recently finding the net in a 3-0 win over AmaZulu in the Telkom Knockout last weekend.
Komphela is hopeful 'Mido', who suffered a thigh injury earlier in the campaign, comes through their upcoming quarter-final contest with Chippa United unscathed so that he can get some rest during the FIFA break.
"He's doing well," Komphela said after his side played to a goalless league draw with Polokwane City at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday night
"George works very hard. He keeps the midfield intact. When it's time to defend he's there to add bodies and when he gets an opportunity he goes forward. So he is typical of a box midfielder, he gives you that.
"And one other thing we are concerned about is how long can he go. I hope he survives Sunday so he gets to the FIFA break and we can give them off so that they can get a breather."
Meanwhile, Komphela wants his men to show more composure up front following the barren stalemate with Rise and Shine.
He added: "Play was positive, chances were created. The only thing we need to rectify is to be calm to take those chances."
Chiefs will open hostilities with Chippa at 15h30 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.
