Joseph Molangoane targets Telkom Knockout honours
Joseph Molangoane is enjoying being back in the mix as he seeks to help Kaizer Chiefs go all the way in the Telkom Knockout.
Molangoane made his first two starts of the season against Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in a wingback role last week as coach Steve Komphela got creative due to a lengthy injury list.
'Tight', who typically operates in advanced positions, previously featured as a substitute in the 1-0 loss to SuperSport United in the MTN8 on August 12.
“It’s nice to be back,” Molangoane told his club's website.
“These were two top level games played at a high intensity. We got four points from these matches, which is a fair result,” added Molangoane, who said he has recovered fully from a stomach problem that affected him earlier in the campaign.
The 29-year-old got the fans going with some sleek footwork in the goalless draw with Pirates on Saturday, although Khompela questioned his movement at times.
Molangoane was delighted to hear the roar of the crowd but is mindful of making a difference in the final third.
“I cherish those moments. I do it for them. At the same time, the team always comes first, every action needs to serve a purpose.”
The former Chippa United attacker is looking forward to this Saturday's TKO last-16 clash with AmaZulu at Moses Mabhida Stadium (20h15).
“I love to play in Durban because if we play there, our supporters always fill up the stadium.”
He added: “Everyone in the team wants to win this cup. It would be a nice Christmas present for our supporters, who have been so loyal to us.
“However, it is still a long road to go. We will take it one step at a time and facing AmaZulu on Saturday will be the first hurdle to cross.”
