Amakhosi To Terminate Defender’s Contract

Kaizer Chiefs could be looking to terminate the contract of the defender, Sibusiso Khumalo, after he fell down the pecking order at the club this season.

Khumalo, 27, joined the Amakhosi at the start of last season as part of a swap deal with Keegan Ritchie, with the former SuperSport United man expected to challenge Tsepo Masilela for the starting place at left back.

While things started relatively well for the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns man, he soon ended up playing second fiddle to Masilela and he ended up playing 16 games for the Glamour Boys – with his last Absa Premiership appearance coming back in January.

Khumalo hasn’t even made it on to the bench in Chiefs’ league games so far in 2017/18, and his only appearance in Steve Komphela’s squad came on the sidelines in the 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United in the MTN8 earlier in the campaign.
There had been talk of the full back going out on loan during the last transfer window, however – as reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma – they may now look to terminate his deal now that a move failed to materialise.
